X-Rays

X-Rays and other types of imaging provide valuable information for both you and your doctor. A visual record of your spine can confirm other exam findings and make your Chiropractic care more precise. X-Rays are a form of energy related to radio waves and sunshine. The image cast onto special film reveals internal structures of the body. These pictures can reveal fractures, bone diseases and joint degeneration. They can also later serve as documentation of your spinal rehabilitation.

Chiropractors go through 4 years of post-graduate training detecting and remove these subluxations. This is done through a method called an adjustment. The word adjustment describes hundreds of ways of using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore spinal bones to a more normal position or motion. When spinal function is improved, nervous system function (health) can improve too. Only after these years of training do Chiropractic doctors become experts at using just the right amount of force in the right direction. Adjustments help return the bones to a more normal position, relieving the pressure on the nerves and in turn relieving pain and disease. Chiropractic is truly at art.

At Total Health & Wellness Center, we take full spine x-rays. This allows us to see your entire spinal column in one picture. It also allows us to show you any abnormal curvature of the spine that may or may not be contributing to your symptoms. We can also measure your hip and shoulder heights and let you know if there is an imbalance that could also be contributing and/or aggravating your condition.

Special care is taken to reduce X-Ray exposure. This is done by using ultra-sensitive films and shielding sensitive body parts. It is beneficial to your care and treatment to have an exact visual record of your spine in a weight-bearing position. These pictures are shown to you at your personalized report of findings and written reports of these films can be provided to other health care providers.
